HERE COMES THE SUN ...................

Step 1
Open a new canvas 550 x 550, 72 dpi, white background.
Fill with black.

Step 2
Insert a new layer and using the polygon tool draw out a
diamond shape, fill with grey (919090). |

Resize until it look something like this. |

Step 2
Go to filter/blur/guassian blur, setting 3.

Step 3
Filter/Distort/Twirl, Angle 20. |

Step 4
Filter/Artistic/Plastic Wrap/ Enter the following
settings.
Do Ctrl+F (this repeats the wrap).

Step 5
Duplicate this layer 3 times and rotate
(Edit/Transform/Rotate) those layers until you achieve something like
this. |

Step 6
Turn off the eye to the background layer and merge the
visible layers (Layer/Merge/Visible). Duplicate that layer twice and
rotate until you get something that looks like the picture on the left.
Turn off the eye to the background layer and merge all of these layers.

Step 7
Double-click on the sun layer to bring up the layer
style options dialogue box and check bevel and emboss (default settings). |

Step 8
Image/Adjustments/Hue-Saturation. Check colorize
box. Hue 28, Saturation 64. |

Step 9
Select
elliptical marquee and make a selection like this. Hit delete key
but do not deselect. |

Step 10
Create a new
layer. Set foreground color to F67604 and using paint bucket fill
your selection.

Step 11
Filter/Render/Lens Flare. 50-300mm.
|
 |

|
|
I encourage you to experiment
with the colorization and fill techniques for this to get different
effects (and, of course, you don't have to use 'sun' colors :O-).
I've included a couple of examples below to stimulate your imaginations,
