Adobe Photoshop Auto Custom Shapes

By:  CivicCX

Tutorial Objective:  In this tutorial you will learn the basics of using Auto Shapes in Adobe Photoshop.

1)  Open up, or create a new document in Adobe Photoshop and make it a reasonable width, and height according to what you are designing.

2)  Next, go over to your main toolbar and click on the option below the Text tool, (this option will look like one of the auto shapes which you can use)

3)  One the dialog has opened for the auto shape display option choose the drop down menu next to the word that says "Shape".

4)  Once you have selected a shape from this menu you are ready to determine how big you are going to
make the shape in your workspace area.

5)  Now, hold your left mouse button down in the work space area and drag it to make the shape which you have selected.  You can also edit the size of the auto shape after it is drawn as well.

6)  Now that you have your shape drawn you can add text over top of it, to make it more customized.

7)  To add text to your auto shape select the "A" (The text tool) on your standard tool bar) and drag it on the shape which is in the workspace area.

8)  Click in it and start typing your text, one it is done, you can use the nudge tool to move it, and use free transform to transform it.

* Try some advanced techniques using auto shapes.  Use more then one at a time, and be creative *
