 Chrome and Gold Text
1. Create a new image.
- 400 wide
- 400 high
- rgb
- 72 pixels per inch
- white background
2. Click on your D key to set black as your Foreground color and then select
the paint bucket fill tool
and fill your
background with black.
3.Select your Type tool with
-
Font
Ariel Black
- 72 pt
- color Grey
3. Type the Word Chrome on your canvas and then Right click on the layer and
select Rasterize.
4. Highlight your text layer by clicking layer and then click it with your
control key down.

Click on Select=>modify=>contract. Set the contract at 4

6. Add a New layer by clicking layer => New => Layer

Change your colors to White in foreground, black in the background. Select the gradient tool
and chose the reflected gradient.

Draw a gradient from mid letters to bottom holding down shift key to make it
straight.
9. Deselect. by clicking Select => Deselect
10. Reselect the type layer by hitting control and clicking layer the type
layer
11. Click on the channels panel. Save selection as new channel by clicking
the button on the bottom that is for "saving selection as channel".
12. Highlight this alpha layer.
Gaussian blur set first at 5. Repeat Gaussian Blur at 2. Repeat Gaussian
Blur again at 1.

Switch to the layers panel. On the layers panel, highlight your text by holding control down and
clicking the text layer to select the text again.
14. Apply Lighting effects by Clicking filter=>render=>lighting effects
and set to the following settings.
- light type=> spotlight
- intensity 21
- focus 69
- gloss 100,
- material -100
- exposure 10
- ambience 8
- texture channel alpha1
- white is high is checked
- height all the way to mountainous.
- adjust the circumference so the light comes from nearly the center to
about 4 o'clock, and the width is wide
enough to more then cover the entire text.

15.
Click images => adjust => curves. Select a sine curve, with a high at (X,Y)
of (1, 3) and a low of (3,1) as shown below.

16. If you would like, Add a gleam or sparkle on the edges with a gleam brush.

Gold Text
17. Turn the background image off by clikcing the eye infront of it.
18. Create a New Layer. Click on the New Layer. Hold down the Control, Alt,
Shift, E to merge all layers.
19.
On this New Layer, Click Adjust Hue/Saturations. Adjust to the following
settings.
- Check colorize
- hue=64
- saturation=25
- lightness=0
