Request a Tutorial

Circular Text

  • Counter Clockwise Text
  • Clockwise Text

1. Create a new image

  • 400 wide
  • 400 high
  • RGB
  • 72 pixels per inch
  • white background

 

2. Select the Text tool, T from the tool bar.

  • Set your color to black
  • Font Arial
  • Regular or bold
  • 60 point

3. Type in the text "This is what curved text looks like " Leaving a space after the last letter. Your text will scroll off the screen.

At this point you must choose if you want the text to go clockwise or counter clockwise. The default is counter clockwise. To make it go clockwise, rotate the image to go 180 degrees. you can do this simply by clicking Edit => transform => rotate 180 degrees.

4. Click on the move tool.  Right click on the layer in the layers panel and rasterize.


5.. Click filter => distort => polar coordinates.

6. Select rectangular to polar.

7. With your move tool selected, and bounding box checked on the options,  resize the image, making it narrower, and higher, until it all fits in the screen, as a perfect circle.
