Dragon Wing Jewelry

Part 2: The Jewels

1. Insert a new layer by clicking Layer=> new=> layer. (Layer 3)

2. Draw an vertical oval with your elliptical marquee

  •  set to a fixed size
  • width =150
  • height=400.

Hit your D key to set default colors. Using the paint bucket, fill it with black.

3. Click Select => all. Then Click edit cut, Then Edit =>Paste to center you image on layer 3

4. Filter: Distort: Polar Coordinates: Rectangular to Polar


5. Click edit=> transform => flip vertical.

6. Control Click the Layer 3 to select your inverted drop shape.

7. Click Select=> Modify => contract

  • Set to 10 pixels.

8. Insert a new layer by clicking layer=>new=>layer.

9. Set foreground color to Hex #58BDE6 and background color to Hex #0C3A4D. Select the gradient tool, with the radial gradient option. Draw a radial gradient in the marquee so the center is just below the middle of the marquee.
10. Click Filter=> Distort=> Zig-Zag

  • Amount = 34
  • Ridges = 15%
  • Style = Out from center


11. Click Filter => Render=> Lens flare.

  • brightness = 85%
  • Lens Type = 105 mm prime

 

11. Turn the eye off on this layer (layer 4). Click on layer 3 and hit backspace. Click Layer=> Arrange=> Bring to Front.
 

12. Double click the Layer 3 to bring up Layer Styles. Check on Bevel and emboss.

  • Style = Inner Bevel
  • Technique = smooth
  • Depth= 101%
  • Direction = up
  • Size = 5 px.
  • soften = 0
  • angle = 84 degrees
  • altitude = 39
  • Gloss contour = double ring
  • Anti-aliased = checked.


13. Click on the layer style for Gradient overlay.

  • bland mode = normal
  • Opacity = 100%
  • Gradient = Linear
  • Style= linear
  • angle = 90.
  • scale = 100 %

14. While layer 3 is highlighted, turn the eye on layer 4 and click the link on the layers panel on layer 4.

 

15.  Insert a new layer by clicking Layer=> new=> layer. (Layer 5)

16. Using the elliptical marquee tool set for fixed size 110 wide by 110 high, draw a circle at the center top of the previous image. Hit your D key and using the paint bucket tool, fill with black.

17. Click Select=> modify=> contract set to 10 px.

18. Insert a new layer by clicking layer=>new=>layer. (layer 6)

19. Set foreground color to Hex #3333FF and background color to Hex #333366.  Select the gradient tool, with the radial gradient option. Draw a radial gradient in the marquee so the center is below the middle of the marquee.
20. Click Filter=> Render=> Lens Flare

  • brightness 150%
  • Lens type= 50-300 mm zoom

21. Click on layer 5 and hit backspace. Click Layer=> Arrange=> Bring to Front.

22. Right click on Layer 3 and select Copy Style.

23. Right click on layer 5 and select paste layer style.

24. Link Layer 5 and 6 to 3 and 4.

25. Turn on the wings layers. Use the move tool to drag the linked layers to right under the wings. Adjust the position of wings .

26. Link the wings to the jewel layers and use the move tool to center the images as best you can.

27. Click on your top layer. Insert new layer called merged.  Holding down your ctrl, alt and shift key, click the letter E.

28. Double click this new layer. click on drop shadow and apply the following settings.

  • Mode = Multiply

  • Opacity = 71%

  • Angle = 84%

  • Distance = 23 px

  • Spread = 0

  • Size = 27 Px
