Creating a Drop Shadow Effect on Text

 

1. Open a new image in photoshop 6

 

 

2. Click the T from the Tool Bar as shown to the right to get in the typing mode. This will bring up a special tool bar for text..

 

 

3. Font Color

Select the text color from the text tool bar by clicking the color square and selecting the color you would like.


 

4. Font type and Size

Select your font from the font panel and the size of the font in pixels

5. Type your letters you want in the font you want and the main color you want on your canvas. The fatter the text the better the bevel..

6. Find the text layer on your layers panel. If you can not find your layers panel, click the windows menu and select show layers.

 

Right click on the T layer, the layer with your text in it and select BLENDING OPTIONS. This will bring up a new panel that will allow us to bevel the text.

 

7. On the Layer Style panel check the box for Drop Shadow and highlight it.. You will see a panel that looks like the one below. Select the options you want for your text. If you arrange this panel where you can see your text also, you will be able to preview your selections as you go. When you have made the shadow you want, adjusting all the options to your needs, click ok.

 

8. Your image now has a drop shadow and ready to save or continue with editing.
