Extracting by Forcing Background

• You will need this file to complete this extraction.
• The extract tool can be used to select a color to extract where there is no solid interior.

1. Open the tree file

2. Click Filter=> Extract (alt ctrl X)

3. Check the box marked force foreground.

4. Select the eyedropper tool and select a light area of the tree branches for the foreground color.

5. Select the edge highlighter tool with brush size of 20 or 30 and brush stroke the tops of the weeds in the direction of the stems.

6. Draw a bottom line for the stems at the base of the image. Connect the top highlights to the base line you made.

7. You will not need fill here for this extraction. Set the matte to white to help you view the extraction. Preview and adjust your highlighting. Click ok.

8. Save your file.
