Renaming files

To rename a single image single left click on the image text (example: 01.jpg) and you can retype the name OR right click on the image, a popup command window comes up and click on rename. (You can not rename if your image is locked.)

Unlocking Files

1. Open Windows Explorer. (RIGHT click on start on your task bar and then click on explorer OR click on my computer and then on C:\)

2. Find the folder of the images you want to unlock. Example: for this lesson it's C:\MyDocuments\digital-camera-images.

3. Click on the folder to open the images. You will see them on the right of your windows explorer.

4. Click on the image or images you want to unlock and then right click on the highlighted area and a popup command window opens.

5. Click on properties then UNCHECK the read only box and then click on OK. This will unlock your image. To lock again follow above instructions and MARK the read only box and click OK.

Renaming Batch Files

1. Open ADOBE FILE BROWSER (go to menu >file>browse).

2. Open your image files by going to the top left side panel of the file browser where you will see your Windows Explorer with your C:\drive or Tree of folders. Find your folder with your image files and click on it. For this class it should be
C:\MyDocuments\digital-camera-images unless you placed them in another folder.

3. You will see your images in the file browser main panel on your right. Right click on the blank area outside of your images. (If only one image is highlighted the batch file rename command will be grayed out. You need more than one image highlighted to use this command. Thus the name batch.

A popup window will open up and you will see the name BATCH RENAME.
Click on it and a window called BATCH RENAME will open.

4. At the top under Destination Folder mark rename in same folder. Move below under File Naming. In the first line type in the word Glass. Hit the tab key and you will move to the line on the right and click the carrot ( black arrow) and find the words 2 digit serial number ( 2 digit serial number is for the number of image files under 100. If you had 100 to 999 image files it would be 3 digit serial number.) Hit the tab key again and you will move to the third line which is under the the first line with the word Glass in it. Click on the carrot (black arrow) and look for the word extension in lower case NOT the UPPER CASE EXTENSION.

Click on okay and you will see all the image files changed to the name Glass01.jpg, Glass02.jpg, Glass03.jpg, etc.
