Request a Tutorial

Focusing Text

1. Open a new File that is 400 wide by 200 high, 72ppi, RGB, white (or black if you want white text on black)

2. Select type tool and type in the text Developing Webs with the following settings.

  • color= black (or white on a black background)
  • character = Georgia
  • size= 60 pt
  • Bold
  • Italic

3. Control click the text layer to select the text. Inset a new layer.(layer1)

4. Click edit=stroke, 1 pixel, black ( or white if using white text on a black background), outside.

5. Click select=> deselect. Duplicate this layer. (layer 1copy)

6. click Filter=> blur=> motion blur set to 50 pixels, at 0 degrees.

7. Click back on layer 1 and select filter=> blur=>motion blur set to 50 pixels, at 77 degrees. If you are doing white on black, use 100 pixels.

With a distort and ripple effect, colorizing with hue/saturation:
