Putting an image into type

(clipping Group)

Requires this picture- (Download by Right clicking link and select "save target as")

1. Open a new image by picture open a new picture with the following criteria

  • 400X400
  • RGB
  • 72dpi
  • whitebackground

2. Save your image as dolphincity.psd

3. Type in the words Dolphin City the following Font settings

  • Size: 36
  • Bold if you can.
  • Font color= Black
  • Note-Bold and fat fonts work the best

3. Open up the Dolphin picture you saved from here in photoshop.

4. With your dolphin as your active window, and both windows active, select the move tool by hitting the "V" on the keyboard or selecting from the toolbar.

5. Drag the dolphin picture to your canvas with the text on it and drop it.

6. Orient the image right over the text so it covers the text.
 

8. On your new 400 X400 canvas, highlight the dolphin picture layer.

9. Hold down the control key and hit the letter "G" on the keyboard.
 

10. Select the lasso tool and set the feather to 6 px.
   
 

11. Back on the Dolphin picture, outline the dolphin with the lasso tool so that the dolphin is highlighted.

12. Select the move tool by hitting the "V" on the keyboard or selecting from the toolbar.

13. Drag it over to the new canvas and drop.

14. Position the new dolphin image where you want it.

15. Select the background layer on your new canvas.

16. Click on the Dolphin picture again and select the ellipse marquee tool.

17. Holding the shift key down to make a perfect circle, create a circle marquee over the water of the image, maintaining the feather of 6 pixels.

18. Select the move tool by hitting the "V" on the keyboard or selecting from the toolbar.

19. Drag this circle over to the new canvas and drop. It should have dropped into the layer above the background. If it did not, move the new layer to right above the background.

20. With this new layer highlighted, click the edit menu to transform to scale. Enlarge the image to cover under the letters and double click the transform area to release the transform box.

21. Double click the text layer on this new canvas to bring up the Layer Styles/Blending options. Double click the Drop shadow and select the shadowing effect of your choice.

22. Double click the stroke style and set for black and 1 or 2 pixels.
