Adding text
1. Click the statues layer in the layers panel to make it active.
2. Set your default colors by clicking the D key on keyboard or clicking the default colors icon on the toolbox.
3. Select the type tool (T) from the tool box. Set the option to
- Set font to Garamond
- Font style = regular/li>
- Font Size = 60 pt
- crisp antialias
- Center
Click in the upper left of the canvas, inside the arch doorway. Type Phoenix and hit enter and type 2000.
Select your Move tool (V) and manually eye up the centering of the text in the doorway
Applying a layer Style
1. Highlight the Phoenix 2000 Type layer and click Layer=> Layer Style=> Outer Glow. Set the outer glow to the following:
- Check Preview
- Spread = 10
- Size = 10
2. Check "stroke" in the left column. click on the word stroke so the choices for stoke come up. Set the following for stroke:
- size = 1
- color= hex #FF6633 you set by clicking the color swatch and entering the hex value into the hex box below.
3. Check Pattern Overlay on the list on the left. Click on Pattern Overlay. Set the following:
- Pattern = wood
- scale = 200%
4. Review your layers palette to see how the layer effects are arranged on the layers palette.
5. Save your file.
Editing Text
1. Select the text layer in the layers palette. 2. Select t6he type tool
(T) 3. Change the font size listed on the options bar from 60 to 72. The
text size should change. 4. Click the canvas at the end of the 2000, and
backspace over the last 0. Type in 4 so it reads Phoenix 2004. 5. Click the
checkbox on the options bar to commit changes.

Overlays 1. Highlight the statue layer. Click
edit=> transform=> scale. Adjust the scale to 150% for width and height on the
options bar for the transform. Apply the transform by hitting your enter key or
the check mark on the options bar.
 3. Use
your move tool to reposition the Statue so that it is over the left side of the
door frame and the top of the head is about even with the inside of the top of
the door frame. 4. On the layers mode, set the layer to Hard Light.
 5. Save
your file. Go to Next layers activity 4. |
