Moving and changing selections
1.
Start with selecting the globe. Review:
- Use your elliptical marquee and start selecting the globe from the
center of the globe.
- Hold down your alt key and shift to make it centered on a perfect
circle.
- Press the space bar as you select to move the selection so it is
aligned on the globe.
2. Select view=> fit to screen to adjust the magnification.
3. Select the move tool V from your toolbox. you will see the cursor
change to a compass point.

Move your cursor inside the selection and the compass point will change to a
scissor for cutting. You will be able to click inside the selection and drag
the selection while you hold your mouse button. Drag the globe over the
tree image. If you let go of the cursor, you will drop the image. To
move it again, simply click and drag further. Use ctrl - to zoom out if need
be, while you drag.
5. Save your work.
Moving and duplicating.
1. While the globe is still selected, use the move tool (V) with the alt
key held down to make a duplicate of the globe when you drag.
2. Continue holding down the alt key and drag a duplicate globe down and to
the right so that the duplicate is near the upper right side of the tree. Let go of the mouse and alt
key.
3. Select edit=> transform=> Scale. Your bounding boxes will display.
Hold your shift key down and drag one corner to enlarge the globe. Click
enter or hit the Check mark on the options bar to apply the change.
4. Place your move tool inside the selected globe. Depress the shift and alt
this time and drag down and to the right. The alt key once again will allow
us to duplicate on the fly. When shift is held down while moving, the object
will be restrained to the direction of one of the compass points on the
right, at 45 degree increments.

Select edit=> transform=> Scale. Your bounding boxes will display. Hold your
shift key down and drag one corner to enlarge the globe so that is it 2
times the size of the original or 1.3 x the size of the parent globe (width
= 133% height= 133%). Click enter or hit the Check mark on the options bar
to apply the change.
6. Alt drag another up to the moon in the sky. Click edit=> transform=>
scale. Scale this to the size of the moon. Hit enter to apply. While still
selected hit control i on your keyboard to invert it. Then click image=>
adjust desaturate to desaturate. Click edit=> fade desaturate. set to 75%.
7. Use the rectangular marquee to select the extra image in the upper right
corner, being careful to select all of the original globe image. Hit your D
key. Click edit=> fill. Set to forground (black).
6. When you are satisfied, chose select=> deselect. Save your file.
