Spring
Flowers Poster
You will need the following files to complete this poster
1. Open each of these files in Photoshop. Each of these are 400 wide by
300 high.
2. Open your actions palette. Create a new action set by clicking the New
set button on the bottom of the action palette. Name the set "poster images.

Select the crocus image file as your active image in Photoshop. Make
sure your poster images action set is highlighted. Click the icon on the
bottom of the actions palette to create a new set. Name the set "spring
poster flowers" and click record to start recording your action.

Click Image=> image size. Check constrain proportions and then set the width
to 300 pixels. Click ok.

Click Select=> all.

Click edit=> stroke. Set the stroke to the following settings and then click
ok.
- 5 pixels
- black
- inside
- normal mode
- 100%
7. Click select=> deselect

Click the stop button on the bottom of your actions palette.
9. Save your crocus image and close it.

With the other three images open, Click File=> automate=> batch. Set the
batch to
- Set = Poster images
- Action = Spring Poster Flowers
- Source = Opened Files
- Destination = none.
Click ok.
11. Reopen the crocus image so that your 4 resized and stroked images are
now open.

Click File=> new. Set the new canvas to
- 700 wide
- 1000 high
- RGB, white
- 72 ppi.
13. Yes your move tool to drag each of your image layers to the new
canvas. Rename your new layers on your big canvas crocus, tulips, iris,
hyacinth.
14. Align the hyacinth layer image so that the top of the image is at 350
pixel mark on the left. Align the iris layer image so that its bottom is at
the 900 pixel mark on the left.. make sure the others are between these
points. Link the 4 flower image layers. Select your move tool.
Click the align left icon on the option bar. Click the Distribute
Vertical centers button.

While they are all linked, use your move tool, combined with nudge arrows,
to nudge them to the 50 pixel mark across.
16. Click on the hyacinth layer. Unlink all your image layers. Click on
the hyacinth layer and link to the tulips layer. Use the move tool options
to click the Align top edges option. .

Click on the iris layer and link to the crocus layer. Use the move tool
options to click the Align bottom layer edges option.
18. Click tulip layer. Unlink the hyacynth from it, and link the crocus
layer. Use the nudge tool to drag it right so the right edge is at the 700
pixel mark.

Select your type tool, set to
- font = Monotype corsiva
- style = regular
- size = 120 pt
- color = red
- vertical scale = 170%
- leading = 100 pt
- Centered.

Type in the words "Spring in Bloom".
20. Hit enter on your keyboard to drop to the next line. Change
your font size to 24 pt. and purple, hex #9999FF. Continue typing in April
25-May 5

Click the effects button on the bottom of the layers palette and select
stroke. Set the stroke to
- 1 pixel
- on center
- purple hex #CC00FF
22. Check the drop shadow option on the left of your layer style window.
Click ok.

Finishing touches are to apply a shape overtop of these. Click on your top
layer. Set your color to yellow. Select custom shape. From the custom shape
find Flower 4. If you can not see it you will have to load the nature shape
set from the fly out menu on your shapes. It is in the nature shapes.

24. Draw several random flowers overlapping images to the white
background. Change the colors if youw ant to, sampling colors from the
flower images such as purple, red, orange, etc. Link these shape layers and
select the flyout menu on the layers palette to create a new set from
linked.
25. Right click on your text layer and select copy layer style. Right
click on one of your shape layers inside the set and select paste layer
style to linked.
26. Click on your background layer and select all. Click edit stroke. Set
the stroke to 20 pixel inside, black 100 %.
Click edit stroke again. This time set it to 15 pixel inside red.
Click edit stroke and select 10 pixel inside black.
27. Save your image! You have your spring flower festival poster!
