Making Texture Tiles for use as patterns and backgrounds
This
tutorial is designed to bring out the creativity in you to design a variety
of textures for your patterns, and your background library. Read over the
basic instructions, and use the following links to produce these textures.
Basic Instructions
1. Open a new image
- Call it Texture
- 200 wide
- 200 high
- 72 pixels per inch
- RGB
- White background
2. Save the file as texture.psd.
3. You must first create a new layer to work on.
4. Each tutorial will have recommended colors to use. You can vary from
these colors if you want- be creative! The recommended colors are in Hex
Values for easy matching to your webpage. To set the hex value of the
foreground color, double click the foreground color. Uncheck web safe colors
and add the hex value to the box labeled #.

5. Follow the tutorial on the treatment of your canvas.
6. After you make the texture you will need to apply techniques to make
your texture a Seamless tiles. Use the
Seamless tiles to help you unless there are other specific instructions
for doing this. Offset your canvas by clicking Filter=>other=>offset. Set at 100 horizontal 100 vertical.

7. Save your PSD for additional textures. Save your file in Gif or jpg
also for the web.
8. Adjust your colors using hue/saturations. save again.
