Translucent Text
The Same text image can be used with different background colors to give
different effects when it is "translucent".
1. Open an image that is
- 468 wide
- 60 high
- 72 ppi
- transparent
- RGB
2. Insert a layer.
3. Type in the word Developingwebs and center it with your move tool.
- Font: Arial Black
- Size: 50 Pt
- color- Try a light color. I used #CCCCFF
4. Save your document.
5. Open a new image
- 10 pixel wide
- 10 pixel high
- 72 ppi
- RGB
- tranparent
6. Zoom in on this image so that you can see each pixel.
7. Hit
your D key to set your default colors
8. Using your pencil tool set to 1 pixel hard brush, put a dot in
alternating points on the image.
9. Highlight the pattern of 4 pixels. Click Edit=>Define Pattern
10. Open
your original text document. Open your layers palette and while the text
layer is highlighted, click the add mask button on the bottom of the layers
palette.
11. Click
Edit=>Fill so your fill goes in your mask.
- Use Pattern
- Select your checkerboard pattern
- Mode = normal
- Opacity = 100%
- preserve transparency is off

12. Click Image=>Mode=>Indexed Color
13. Click OK to merge layers

14. Set
the indexed color to the following:
- palette: Master Adaptive
- Colors 2
- Foced: none
- Check Transparency
- Matte: None
- Dither: none
15. Save your image for the web as a transparent gif. Put your image on a
colored background of your choice. |
